A GUIDE TO NEUROLOGICAL EXAMINATION. |
|
A PDF file fully explaining normal
neurological examination and pathological neurological signs.... Starting
in medical school neurologic examination has remained intimidating
for many physicians. The examination has been perfected over many
decades thanks to our French and German founding fathers. It has led
to eponyms (e.g. - Babinski sign, Hoffmann reflex) different
techniques of detecting subtle signs of weakness (e.g. - hand
rolling, foot tapping) and even a wide collection of reflex hammers
that can be proudly displayed in the office. Click

My lecture in neurology for the undergraduate
students (PDF file)... The term "ataxia" can be used for
any disturbance in gait but is used here in a more restricted sense
to denote disturbances of coordination rather than strength.
Disturbances of coordination are typically caused by dysfunction of
the cerebellum or its major input systems from the frontal lobes or
the posterior columns of the spinal cord. Click
